Colombia : An education programme for children from displaced families
The Carrefour International Foundation has donated 390 million Colombian pesos for the renovation of two schools in the city of Barranquilla. The schools, located in a poor neighbourhood and already sponsored by Shakira’s Pies Descalzos foundation, will be equipped with a toy lending library shortly after renovation.
At the same time, each Carrefour hypermarket will be sponsoring a school in its vicinity. Significant initial investment has gone into this project. It will not only improve the physical appearance of the schools but will also promote education thanks to donations of computer equipment, books, and educational materials. Our sponsor stores regularly organize activities such as environment days, teachers’ days, workshops on subjects like baking and painting, and guided tours of museums and gardens.
900 kits were recently distributed to the children of partner schools in the Colombian cities of Barranquilla and Cazuca.
