Brazil : The Carrefour International Foundation and the IT for All
The Carrefour International Foundation and the IT for All Commission – working together to fight exclusion
Created in 1995 by Ashoka social entrepreneur Rodrigo Baggio, the IT for All Commission (CDI) is a Brazilian NGO which sets up computer and social responsibility schools in the shanty towns of Brazil in an attempt to improve the career prospects of young people from underprivileged backgrounds.
The aid donated by the Carrefour International Foundation - €126,000 euros – will allow the CDI to set up 10 IT rooms in communities close to Carrefour stores and a further four inside Carrefour stores, offering career openings to young people from underprivileged backgrounds.
After training, Carrefour Brazil will offer jobs to some of the 30,000 young trainees.
