Argentina : The Carrefour International Foundation step up his aid action
Following emergency aid to get drinking water to the communities hit by last month’s floods, the Carrefour International Foundation is working with teams from Carrefour Argentina to help the families in the isolated Tartagal region in northern Argentina. €15,000 of aid has so far been donated.
Thanks to the mobilization of volunteer employees from Norte, a Carrefour Argentine group member, we were able to distribute: 200 mattresses, 350 blankets, 500 kilos of powdered milk, 6000 5-litre bottles of water and 6000 pallet beds in Carrefour stores in the province of Jujuy and in Salta, some 350 km from the flood zone.

Carrefour mobilizes to bring help to the Chinese people
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale struck China on Monday 12 May 2008 (at 2.28 pm local time). The epicentre was close to Wenchuan in Sichuan province, in the south west of the country. When the catastrophe was announced on Monday evening, the Carrefour Group - via its International Foundation - paid a grant of 2 million yuan (€200,000) to the Chinese Red Cross as an initial emergency measure. |
