An earthquake of magnitude 6 (Richter) hit the city of Elazig on Monday, 8th March 2010. Two important replies and secondary quakes continued to strike the city. The last balance from the Municipality announced 51 deaths, more than 10 000 injured persons and 2 000 directly affected families.

The strong mobilization of Carrefour’s teams (in the headquarters, in five stores located nearby Elazig and in the closest distribution centre) allowed the gathering of the following donations, in emergency:
- Food (powdered milk, rice, oil, soup…)
- Hygiene products (soap, shampoo, antiseptic…)
- Non-alimentary goods (textile, blanket…)

All the products were gathered in the city of Diyarbakir and delivered to the crisis centre of Elazig, on Saturday, 13th March.

The Foundation supports Carrefour Turkey’s mobilization and finances the total amount of the donation, representing a € 123.000 emergency aid.
