Thanks to its experience in France, the Carrefour Foundation has been able to also develop a successful collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Food Banks.

History

The Spanish federation of food banks (FESBAL) has been working in collaboration with the Carrefour Foundation for 3 years, during which it helped more than 800 000 persons across the country. During this period, the Foundation indeed contribute financially to help the federation buy 12 refrigerated vehicles to transport fresh products in conformity with security laws, and to deliver those products to numerous families living far away, and without moving facilities.

Thanks to the 171 707 € - grant from the Carrefour Foundation in 2011, the Fundacion Solidarid Carrefour Espana has been able to offer 5 refrigerated vans to the Spanish federation of Food Banks. These vehicles will be given to the Food Banks of Malaga, la Rioja, Las Palmas, Salamanca, Navarra and Grenada, and will allow them to increase their capacity of collect, thus benefiting to a higher number of people.

For José Antonio Busto, president of the Spanish Federation of Food Banks, this help represents “a relief for the 5 food Banks which are going to receive the vehicles”, because it will ‘facilitate the management of the products and allow more people to have access to it”.
