The ANPH says that more than 620 000 people live with a handicap in Romania, among whom 130 000 are physically impaired. Most of them are forced to live alone and dependant, because of the lack of dedicated facilities. The Association “Motivation” works to give these people answers to their exclusion, offering them internships, formations and seminars about integration.
The Foundation chose to join the association in its fight, and to support the project up to 40 000 € in 2011.
Thus, 147 people and 27 children will be able to participate to the activities organized by the association in the North-East Region, the centre, Muntenia and in Bucarest.
The grown-ups who became disabled because of an accident will be offered 12 internships, 3 camps and 3 seminars along the year. The different sessions are aimed at helping them live independently but above all to give them the keys to find a job or to go on with their studies, by orientating them towards the appropriate structures and by teaching them their rights.
The children will have the opportunity to participate to different activities supposed to develop their manual abilities and to improve their independence.
Apart from these activities, 30 people will be given wheel-chairs to help them in their independent life, and 10 will get a job on the labour market. Carrefour indeed collaborates with the association and already hired 12 people between 2009 and 2010.
