The Carrefour International Foundation is pursuing its initiative to combat exclusion through food donations, continuing to fund the opening of welfare grocery stores by helping to refurbish buildings and equip stores.
At the same time, local sponsors provide material and logistical aid to support these stores in their operations. This type of aid is currently to be found in France, Belgium and Greece.

Carrefour mobilizes to bring help to the Chinese people
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale struck China on Monday 12 May 2008 (at 2.28 pm local time). The epicentre was close to Wenchuan in Sichuan province, in the south west of the country. When the catastrophe was announced on Monday evening, the Carrefour Group - via its International Foundation - paid a grant of 2 million yuan (€200,000) to the Chinese Red Cross as an initial emergency measure. |
