The Pacte 14 welfare grocery store opened in 1997.
In 2009, the city of Mondeville gives to PACTE association two new premises which will replace the current premise in June.
T he arrangement of the main place will be financed by the Foundation and will welcome the activity of sewing-ironing as well as the grocery and its stockroom. The ancient appendix of the city hall will accommodate the sale of clothes; Mondeville is, itself, financing its arrangement.
The Foundation will thus bring a 21 000 € help in 2009.
There are now about 200 families shopping in the store once a week. These families are referred by social workers who monitor them and assess whether or not their situation meets Pacte's criteria.
The Pacte card, which gives access to the shop, is issued for 3 months and is renewable once. It may be allocated again after a further period of 6 months.
This shop is supplied free of charge by Carpiquet (grocery and fresh produce), the Mondeville hypermarket and the Thuit Hebert warehouse.
Pacte 62 also periodically supplies products.
Products are occasionally bought from Promocash if needed and non-food products (mainly textiles) are also contributed by Carrefour Solidarity.
The grocery currently has six employees - two on 30 hours per week, one on 15 hours and three young people on CAE contracts (whereby they receive support and mentoring in their work) on 20 hours per week.
There is also a small ironing service employing one person for 4 hours per week and a sewing service employing one person for 10 hours per week. These two services are used by personnel from Carrefour's Mondeville headquarters.
Pacte 14 is authorised by the DDTE (the local Department of Labour) to employ people on CAE contracts and has entered into a social support agreement with a service belonging to ACSEA (an organisation dedicated to protecting and supporting children and teenagers).
