The PACTE association against exclusion was founded in 1995 by employees of the Carrefour Group. Its mission: to act against exclusion in all its forms.

PACTE grocery stores sell everyday food products, including groceries, drinks (but not alcohol), fresh produce and frozen foods, as well as cleaning products and toiletries – all at one fifth of the hypermarket price.

Articles are labelled with the prices at which they are available for sale in conventional stores. This way, customers still have an idea of current prices. Only certain household and textile products are sold at non-discount prices, while other products such as fruit and veg, cleaning materials and pet food are not included in the budget but are still sold at discount.

All grocery products sold in the store come from donations by Carrefour’s trading partners and are subject to strict quality control. Produce quality is one of the fundamental criteria in the operations of PACTE. The store’s customers are treated the same as normal customers anywhere and are given special guidance and supervision in their purchases.
