France : Financing of a refrigerated vehicle
In 2010, Carrefour International Foundation helped to purchase a refrigerated vehicle for Restos du Coeur 44.
The Restaurants du Cœur de Loire Atlantique association collects donations of food in Carrefour stores, which it then distributes to those in greatest need. Every year the association distributes 2500 tons of food to some 17,440 beneficiaries.
In 2010, Carrefour International Foundation is putting 30,000 € towards the purchase of a refrigerated vehicle. This truck will enable food collected in the stores to be kept fresh by maintaining the cold chain. The Foundation also donated 10 000€.
Carrefour France has also signed a two-year contract with Restos du Coeur and Danone to organize the donation and collection of groceries and offer its expertise.
In 2009, through its annual collection, Restos du Coeur was able to collect 1271 tons of groceries in two days, with the involvement of over 3200 staff from the two groups.
