France : Fighting waste with Agence du Don en Nature

Each year, 400 000 € of unsold products are taken off the shelves. In France, thousands of peope live in precarious conditions and cannot afford buying all they need.
The AND was created in 2007 to answer this double assessment and finght waste while giving to the ones in need. The association launched a platform between big firms and smaller associations, to collect new products such as shampoo, soap, small households appliance, underwear, or toys and redistribute them to association fighting exclusion in France.

During its first years, the association created a network of partners to get known in the area of nonfood products donation. The results got more than satisfying. The financial donations from the Foundation enabled to pre-finance the stocking costs and the handling of products.  In 2010, AND was thus able to give the equivalent of 8.3 millions € of products to 350 000 people thanks to 30 donation firms.

The success of the project is such that the association today needs to redimension its informatical  platform of logistics. The Foundation will therefore donate 70 000€ to the association in 2011.
