Italy : Carrefour teams are helping Italians after the earthquake
Emergency aid to the victims of Aquila's earthquake.
On Monday's night, central Italy was struck by a violent earthquake. According to a recent data from emergency sources (on Tuesday, April 7th), at least 235 people have succumbed to the disaster. We count 20 000 victims (injured, homeless) in the region of Abruzzes and particularly in Aquila, the capital.
Thanks to the implication of Carrefour local teams, who work with the emergency services, a truck containing basic food products (water, pastas...) was forwarded from the warehouse of Naples to canteens raised under tents. To allow the acquisition and distribution of products, the Carrefour International Foundation granted an emergency fund of 30 000 €.
In the coming weeks, Carrefour teams in Italy will assess the needs of the victims to help in the reconstruction of the stricken Region.
