Fight against obesity in Belgium.
Since high rates of childhood obesity affect the rest of Europe as well, in early 2006 it was decided to extend the EPODE programme to other European countries. The EPODE approach was adapted in function of each country's cultural, political, institutional and economic particularities. Thus, the programme is known in Belgium as VIASANO, and in Spain as THAO Salud Infantil. VISANO was launched in January 2007 for a four-year period in two pilot cities, Hasselt and Mouscron, and concerns more than 123,000 people.
