In order to help the victims of the Morakot typhoon in Taiwan, the Carrefour International Foundation decided to bring a financial support of 300 000 €.

Since the 7th of August 2009, the typhoon has caused the death of more than 500 persons and 30 000 homes have no more access to basic resources (water, electricity...).

Damages are huge: mudslides have caused the death of hundreds of persons, landslides and floods destroy infrastructures (houses, streets, bridges…) all over the Country.

Many inhabitants are henceforth without shelters, with no food, no hygiene kits, no basic goods… The country counts numerous injured persons.

To strengthen the help brought at the first hours by Carrefour Taiwan, the Carrefour International Foundation decided to respond to the international community call by giving 100 000 € value of goods, distributed by the voluntary employees of Carrefour to the Civil Security and the Red Cross, both in charge of the distribution

At the same time, the Foundation decided to help for reconstruction (mainly concerning school buildings and materials needed) and will bring an additional support of 200 000 €.
