After over 70 days without rain, two-thirds of the rivers had dried up, destroying all the crops. On 15 septembre 2006, the Carrefour International Foundation released 50 000 euros to build a hospital and help the populations suffering from undernourishment and poor sanitary conditions. The hospital will be built with the help of the Red Cross. Its departments will include A&E, Internal medecine, surgery, gynoecology, and paediatrics. It will also have a laboratory and a dispensary. This structure will be able to receive 2700 families and 750 homeless people.
