At least 77 people were killed during the floods. Hundreds of houses in four different villages were swept away by the waters.

At the request of Carrefour Indonesia and working in close liaison with local authorities, the Carrefour International Foundation donated €18,000 for emergency supplies.
The staff at Carrefour Indonesia head office and our Surabaya stores were assisted in their actions by Jean Noël Bironneau, executive director of Carrefour Indonesia, and made an active contribution to the aid effort by distributing food, clothing, hygiene products and basics such as blankets etc. They have also helped in medical assistance and will be participating in the reconstruction of the infrastructure worst hit by the floods (houses, schools etc.).
