The NGO Bina Swadaya aims to alleviate poverty in Indonesia. It works to develop the confidence of those who wish to set up small businesses by fostering total independence and a business mindset in its beneficiaries.

The aim of the programme supported by the Carrefour International Foundation is to develop the quality of micro-credit services in order to meet the highest possible number of credit requests, to train women to manage micro-businesses, and to increase and develop the income as well as the quality of life of women and their families.

The role of Carrefour Indonesia is very important, since it supports the development of the NGO’s micro-credit training teams and helps standardize the assessment criteria that ensure the viability of the companies in question. In addition, it’s important to create jobs based both on horizontal and vertical development support. Horizontal development is about helping small businesses compete with large companies, while vertical support is provided through the purchase and distribution of finished products within Carrefour stores.
