With a population of 1.3 billion, China has difficulty in providing education for youngsters living in remote rural regions.

Some 40 million students are forced to abandon their studies due to their parents' inability to pay for their education.

"Hope School" aims to improve schooling conditions in remote regions in China by training teachers and providing courses in business and food hygiene for children and their parents.
The Carrefour International Foundation is joining forces with the China Youth Development Foundation to build 30 schools over the next three years in six Chinese provinces with agricultural potential such as Sichuan, Hebei, Hunan, Anhui and Jiangxi.
