The Kangaroo Baby method for premature babies
Working in partnership with the Kangaroo Baby foundation, Carrefour Colombia has begun construction of a maternity ward in the city of Quibdo, capital of Choco region, the poorest in Colombia. After funding training for the doctors of the hospital of Sans Francisco de Asis in the Kangaroo Baby method for premature babies, Carrefour has now donated a maternity ward to complete the programme. A total of €40,000 euros have been detailed to the construction and equipment of the ward and the installation of an electricity generator.

Carrefour mobilizes to bring help to the Chinese people
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale struck China on Monday 12 May 2008 (at 2.28 pm local time). The epicentre was close to Wenchuan in Sichuan province, in the south west of the country. When the catastrophe was announced on Monday evening, the Carrefour Group - via its International Foundation - paid a grant of 2 million yuan (€200,000) to the Chinese Red Cross as an initial emergency measure. |
