“Get on board for autism”
“Get on board for autism” is the campaign slogan to help children with autism
Carrefour Spain’s Solidarity Foundation has promoted this campaign along with Grupo Zeta, the Reina Sofia Foundation, the Spanish Autism Confederation and the Spanish Federation of Associations for Parents of Autistic Persons. The aim is to raise funds in order to finance a total of 96 projects (workshops, courses and specialised services) which will help 5,350 children and young people affected by this disorder throughout Spain. To this purpose, Grupo Zeta, through Ediciones B, has published 155 titles in the adventure series of Mortadel and Filemón, the intrepid pair created by well-known comic book writer Francisco Ibáñez. Up to a million copies will be available in all the hypermarkets, mini-hypers and 56 Carrefour Express stores in Spain: they will cost €2 each, with 50% going towards the project. Five children in 10,000 are affected by autism. In four out of five cases, the condition is accompanied by learning disabilities and all cases require ongoing attention. With this in mind, the project was created with the objective of raising public awareness of autism and its needs.
