Carrefour Romania’s involvement in social action sets it apart

Every month, Carrefour Romania helps and supports a multitude of projects working to better the lot of needy people: the sick, pensioners, the homeless etc.

In fact, since opening its first hypermarket in Romania, Carrefour has been working with non-governmental organisations to develop genuine partnerships that have benefited large numbers of people in various areas of the country.

This is why Carrefour has sponsored the national team of people with reduced mobility for the annual Olympic Games organized by the NGO "Special Olympics". A small gesture but one that counts a great deal to these people who experience moments that stimulate them and motivate them to live their lives with enthusiasm and passion.

Carrefour has also shown solidarity through internal action such as the toy donation organized in its stores every Christmas. The toys collected are given to orphans.  

Lastly, Carrefour staff were invited - in a gesture of solidarity and in agreement with the Romanian administration - to redirect a portion of their taxes to NGOs applying to Carrefour for assistance, via a simplified procedure.
